An oval gold snuffbox with a hinged lid. The sides are decorated with acanthus shoot featuring rosettes at the ends of the scrolls. Inset into the center of the lid is an oval miniature bust-length portrait of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Vicomte de Turenne, Marshal of France (1611–1675), executed circa 1665. The base features an oval medallion depicting a vase. The remaining surface of the lid and base is decorated with acanthus shoots with leaves, scrolls, and rosettes at the ends, bordered along the perimeter by a narrow band of intertwined wavy ribbons.
