A falcon is set upon a tall pedestal. Its body, wings, and tail are carved from a single piece of honey-colored (yellow-brown) citrine; the head and legs are crafted from gold, the eyes from rainbow obsidian, and the tongue from coral. The pedestal is made of gold and decorated at the top with a relief band of foliate ornament, accented with oval ruby cabochons. The entire composition is fixed upon a circular stepped base, which holds a hood (to be placed on the bird's head) and an arm guard. The base is fashioned from rock crystal and malachite; the feet, mounts, and falconry equipment are made of gilt silver.
