Her right arm is extended backward; her left arm, half-bent with splayed fingers, is raised to the neck level. Depicted is Constance Stewart-Richardson (1883-1932), from an ancient noble Scottish family. A British swimming champion, she also did high diving, shooting, and horseback riding. She participated in hunts in India, Africa, and the western USA. She dedicated herself to dance, initially as an amateur and later professionally.
