The clock movement, featuring a lever escapement and an alarm, is housed in the cast gilded bronze case decorated with rocaille and volute motifs. The pale green enamel dial with Arabic numerals and openwork gilded hands features a small silvered alarm-setting disc. The center of the dial is adorned with a cast overlay. Situated below the dial are a winding aperture for the phonograph and fabric-backed acoustic openings. The top of the case features a hinged lid and a carrying handle shaped like acanthus leaves.

Mounted behind the rear door is a miniature Lioret phonograph with a spring-driven motor, a cylinder, and a paper horn. Triggered by the clock's alarm, it automatically opens the top lid, lowers the stylus, and begins audio playback.

The case rests on an oval wooden base decorated with marquetry and red velvet top panel. Housed inside the base is a musical movement (a comb and a pinned cylinder for two melodies) with a spring mechanism wound by a pull-cord. A winding key is in the set.
