One gentleman holds a book, showing and explaining something to Prince Sergei Nikitich Trubetskoy (1829–1899), a Grand Court Marshal and Actual Privy Councillor.In the upper center of the sheet, the series title is written in black ink: “FÊTE À LA COUR” (translated from French as: Court Celebrations). Below it, there is an inscription in French: “«Vous vous en rapellerez! Que Je me suis tenu ici, a cote // de moi se trouvait le Prince de Montenegro..».” (translated as: “You will remember! That I stood here, and next to me was the Prince of Montenegro...”). In the lower part of the sheet, there is an inscription in French executed in black ink: “Une autre bête noire” (translated as: Another bête noire / Another black scarecrow).
