overflowing strength and vitality that it seems eternally young"

Dmitri Shostakovich

Sergei Prokofiev was always a step ahead of his time. His music is not the dull classics found in textbooks, but a living surge of energy where bold rhythm meets incredible melody. Even nowadays, his music retains its piercing sharpness and freshness, remaining relevant for 21st-century listeners.
Possessing a unique gift for seeing sound in motion, Prokofiev createmusical works that have become the cultural code for many generations. Among the composer's vast heritage, a special place is held by his monumental compositions, where the music literally breathes with history.

The cantata "Alexander Nevsky" became the most vivid embodiment of national spirit and might. Originating from the score for Sergei Eisenstein's movie, it evolved into an independent masterpiece where Prokofiev proved himself a true musical dramatist. In this work, the composer moved beyond simple historical stylization, infusing it with vibrant energy. Even today, audiences are spellbound by the clarion call of the chorus "Arise, people of Russia!", while the "Battle on the ice" scene is hailed as the gold standard of battle music, where every beat conveys the clashing of armour and the harsh breath of the Russian winter. The work on the cantata revealed to the world the authentic Sergei Prokofiev – an artist capable of merging avant-garde boldness with profound folk epicism. Today, as we celebrate the 135th birth anniversary of the great master, we realize that Prokofiev’s creative legacy is an eternally young element that resonates with the rhythm of life even today, continuing to inspire and triumph over time.
