Sculptors of Victory: monumental heritage in the museum Collection

Six years ago to mark the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, the museum Collection Museum presented the online exhibition of Soviet sculpture from the 1940s-1960s. The exposition features works by the titans of the Soviet monumental art: E.V. Vuchetich, A.V. Grube, S.S. Andreichenko, V.I. Agibalov, and V.I. Mukhin.
Today, these names rarely appear in the current art agenda. In an era of fleeting digital content and 'Instagram creativity,' works of the Soviet monumental style often remain in the shadows, undeservedly deprived of public attention. Yet, behind these austere forms lie real lives: nearly all the artists featured were combat veterans – chroniclers 'seared by war' who witnessed both tragedy and triumph with their own eyes.We strive to bring these names back into the modern cultural context and share the authentic stories behind the creation of the country’s most iconic memorials. What these masters captured in bronze and plaster are more than just monuments; they are the tangible memory of a nation, conveyed through personal emotions and the truth of eyewitnesses.
Biographical details, fascinating facts about the masters, the history of the monuments' creation, and curated audio collections of wartime songs are all available on the Collection Museum website.
