A gold and enamel snuff box of oval form with a scalloped edge, featuring a hinged lid. The exterior surfaces of the lid and the base are decorated with finely painted enamel floral compositions against turquoise ground: a bouquet of flowers in a basket on the lid, and a floral bouquet on the base. The scenes are framed along the edge by a border of polychrome flowers and scrolls against blue ground. The sides of the snuff box are decorated with rectangular reserves containing alternating small bouquets and scrolls against alternating turquoise and blue grounds.

Snuff boxes of this type were manufactured in Switzerland for export to Eastern markets, specifically for the Turkish market.
