One of them, attempting to grab the scout by the throat, has raised a dagger over him; next to him is a highlander aiming a pistol at the scout; opposite them stands a highlander showing the scout an object in his hand. On the reverse side, there is an inscription in French: “L’espion découvert par le païen russe // Fait historique” (translated as: The Spy Discovered by the Russian Pagan. Historical Fact).
