In the right foreground by a table, a half-length portrait shows Count Pyotr Andreyevich Shuvalov sitting and leaning on his hand. Wearing a general's uniform, he observes a group of floor polishers busy polishing the floors.

    The author's signature and date are located along the lower edge in the center: Зichy 14 Janv // 1888.
