An interior scene decorated with a palm tree is depicted on a rectangular, vertically oriented sheet with rounded corners. In the foreground, two ladies in ball gowns are shown sitting on chairs: one is yawning, covering her face with a fan, while the second is asleep. Behind the yawning lady, a sleeping officer leans on the chair. Figures of other officers and ladies are shown in the background. In the upper part of the sheet, there is an inscription in French executed in graphite pencil: “Dans les petits coins, vers trois heures du matin” (translated as: In the corners, toward three o'clock in the morning).

The author's signature and date are located in the lower center in graphite pencil: Зichy 88.
