An interior scene decorated with palm trees in tubs is depicted on a rectangular, vertically oriented sheet with rounded corners. Next to a confidently marching general with his head held high, a gentleman in a tailcoat respectfully follows, holding a top hat in his hand. In the background, ladies and gentlemen are shown sitting at tables, including members of a Chinese delegation. In the lower-left corner, there is an inscription in graphite pencil: “За Государемъ” (translated as: Behind the Sovereign).
The author's signature and date are located in the lower-right corner in graphite pencil: Зichy // 88.
