Commemorating The 180th anniversary of Émile Gallé. World Heritage at the museum Collection (video)

One can gaze at Émile Gallé’s vases indefinitely. His art perfectly illustrates the profound influence of nature on the creative mind. As our world becomes increasingly tech-driven, the natural world remains the most sublime and significant source of inspiration. From the soft fall of a petal to the bold beat of a wing—nature offers the motifs that Gallé turned into exceptional works of art.

Currently, the museum Collection is a leading guardian of this legacy. Through years of dedicated collecting by our founder, David Iakobachvili, we have built a  works by Émile Gallé that is among the most significant and comprehensive globally. With over 3,000 items spanning every period, style, and complex technique of the master's oeuvre, our holdings are unparalleled. To put this in perspective: the famous Musée de l'École de Nancy in France features around 450 works, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris possesses only a few dozen.

Such a vast collection offers both experts and enthusiasts a unique opportunity to explore the full evolution of this glassmaking pioneer in one place. Committed to making this heritage accessible to all, we invite you to discover the world of Gallé through our museum's digital platforms.

Ballad about Glass”: to mark the master's 175th anniversary, the museum presented a chamber exhibition dedicated to one of his iconic masterpieces – a liqueur set in the Gothic style. A video guide to this display is available in the "Video excursions sequence" section".

A video about Émile Gallé – an overview of the life and creative methods of this glassmaking pioneer – is available in our Video Archive.

The master’s ceramic works are no less unique than his famous glass. We present the video series 'Ceramics by Émile Gallé,' showcasing impeccable items from the museum's funds. The series is divided into three thematic parts: 'Landscapes,' 'Animalistics,' and 'Heraldry'.

In the 'Printed Materials' section, you can download an Album for coloring "Vases of Emil Galle". This is an excellent opportunity to study the 'floral style' (also known as 'Gallé style'), which became the hallmark of the Art Nouveau era.

You can explore the unique pieces created by the master in the 'Western European Glass and Ceramics' section of our collection. To learn more about his life and creative journey, visit the 'Authors/Manufacturers' section, which features a detailed biography of Émile Gallé."
